THE PENDULUM OF POWER

An era of worldwide transformation is here. While some face this with assurance, many are filled with doubt about what is to come. Calm seas and solid ground make for an easy journey. Yet when the gales of upheaval start to press, people understand their own vulnerability. In this Age of Conflict, mankind perpetually stands at the brink, gazing into the abyss of annihilation, where a single error could lead to its demise. How much strife can the human race endure before it is toppled? Are these worldwide shifts merely minor tremors, or are they the precursors to the ultimate collapse?

THE STRENGTH OF A UNITY IS FOUND IN COMPROMISE.

Thrones have been held by countless rulers, each distinct from the last. Like the pendulum in a clock, authority moves endlessly from one side to the other with the passage of time. It forges an equilibrium between two contrary poles—each faction dependent on the other to preserve stability. No side is completely correct or incorrect, yet neither can afford to yield. Should the pendulum stop its motion, the clock itself grinds to a halt.

PEACEFUL TRANSFER OF POWER IS A FOUNDATION OF FREEDOM.

It is simple to assign blame for difficulties to those in charge, especially if they were not your chosen representatives. To their rivals, a ruler becomes an adversary; their errors are viewed as deliberate assaults; their innate imperfections become unforgivable faults; their stumbles are seen as sinister plots. Countless people are unwilling to acknowledge any virtue in those with opposing views, for no other reason than a divergence in ideology.

Censure acts as the check that prevents a ruler from becoming a tyrant. But even the most exceptional leader is composed of the same substance as the most humble citizen. The intellect of a monarch and a laborer vary only in the knowledge and principles they have acquired. To assert that any leader is wholly wicked—or wholly virtuous—is to deny their fundamental humanity.

Seek solace in the timeless inquiry: “Cui bono?”—Who benefits? What could those in power possibly gain from the ruin of the populace they govern? What would drive a ruler to annihilate the very foundation of their own authority?

THOUGH DIVIDED BY OPINION, ALL MUST UNITE FOR THE GOOD OF HUMANITY.

Do not fear for the future of this planet’s most adaptable species. Though the faces in the halls of power will shift, and the borders on the world map will be redrawn, humanity’s progress will continue unbroken. When the winds of change risk knocking you down, seek safety within the structure of the pyramid. We remain ever vigilant on your behalf.
